DragonSword Awakening System Requirements: SSD Required

Last verified 2026-08-07

An SSD is strictly required — this is not the usual "recommended" hedge. The store page states plainly that installing DragonSword: Awakening on an HDD may cause extended loading times, texture pop-in, framerate drops or unexpected behaviour. If you are troubleshooting stutter, check your drive before you touch graphics settings.

Why the SSD note matters

This is an Unreal Engine 5 open world. UE5 streams assets continuously as you move, and that streaming is what produces texture pop-in and hitching when the drive cannot keep up. On an open-world title the symptom is not a long loading screen — it is stutter while you walk.

If you are seeing pop-in on a machine that otherwise meets the spec, the drive is the first thing to check.

Is it on PS5?

The Steam listing at launch is Windows only, and we have not seen an official console announcement. This is one of the most-searched questions about the game, and a lot of pages answer it confidently without a source — we are not going to be one of them.

Still to verify

Recommended (as opposed to minimum) specs, Steam Deck verification status, and any console plans are not confirmed. This page lists only what is published.
